Dry Eye

Dry Eye Syndrome has become a more and more prevalent issue with adults becoming more problematic as we age. This can manifest in more discomfort and even more painful sensation in the eyes. It can also can cause redness in the eyes and a decrease in overall vision.

Dry eyes are often a chronic issue that is caused when your tears don’t provide an adequate amount of lubrication for the eye. It is possible that you don’t produce enough tears, or the quality of the tears is poor. Tear film is critical when it comes to health of the eyes and the quality of our vision. If the tear film is out of balance and unstable then our eyes begin to suffer. We have many glands that surround out eyelids that are intended to secrete lipids into our tear film. If they don’t function properly our tears can easily evaporate and leave us with poor tear film coating. We thoroughly examine this part of the eye and determine how to maximize each patient’s system.

If you are suffering from chronic dry eyes, make an appointment at Albright Eyecare to discuss a treatment plan and possible lifestyle modifications to improve your symptoms.
